Athena Yiamouyiannis
National Association for Girls and Women in Sports

Athena Yiamouyiannis is the Executive Director of the National Association for Girls and Women in Sport. NAGWS is a national nonprofit educational organization of physical educators, college professors and administrators dedicated to providing equitable opportunities for girls and women in sport.

Prior to NAGWS, Athena worked at the NCAA for ten years. As Director of Membership Services at the NCAA, she oversaw the NCAA rules education program and assisted the NCAA's Committee on Women's Athletics with a number of Title IX and gender equity initiatives, including the development of seminars and publications. As staff liaison to the NCAA's Committee on Women's Athletics, Ms. Yiamouyiannis also helped conduct a gender equity audit of NCAA programs, activities, and championships and helped developed recommendations for areas that needed improvement. Ms. Yiamouyiannis holds a Masters Degree in Sports Management and a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics from The Ohio State University, where she also competed in cross country and track for the Buckeyes.
